    270 BSA Royal Lightweight / Featherweight $900

Known as a BSA Royal with imperial featherweight length action, but most people commonly knew them as lightweight or featherweight hunters.

A reluctant sale and I have owned the rifle for the past 20 years, being my go to bush/close quarter’s rifle, but it has become surplus to my needs and now takes up needed space in my cabinet. I would rather someone employs it for its intended use as opposed to it being hidden away in the dark far from the action.

I had the blueing removed not long after my purchase having it MIL-SPEC parkerized. Parkerizing is a common military arms method of protecting a steel surface from corrosion and increasing its resistance to wear, a more effective alternative to blueing. All wood work and the barrel are in excellent condition for its age, markings indicate manufacture 1959 in Birmingham.

It still shoots a 2.5cm (1inch) group at 100m and I have repeatedly and successfully stretched it out to +300m.

The barrel has a muzzle break from manufacture and comfortable recoil pad, making the recoil very manageable.

The rifle comes with a Leupold Vari-X-III 1.5-5x scope and rings as shown in the image by itself, the Vortex scope currently fitted the rifle in the photos is not part of the sale.

Rifle is available to be picked up from Auckland. I would prefer the rifle to be picked-up to avoid the additional courier and police work, but will send the rifle to the purchaser if they are unable to pick-up. The additional courier fees are to be paid by the purchaser prior to me dispatching, ~$30 via Fastway Couriers.

    Serial number 8B639
    • 8 = 270cal
    • B = Imperial featherweight
    • 639 = number 639 made
Both bolt and action numbers match i.e. 639
Royal featherweight / lightweight has a full length extractor, Mauser type. Majestic uses small spring loaded C.
Featherweight / lightweight bolt has hollowed out bolt handle, as shown.

PM me and/or email me to purchase, further questions or images.

I had the same baby but in .222, was basically new at the time and to this day I still regret selling it.
    That .270 looks great.

PM sent. It is a very beautiful rifle. I had one named Christine and she had been very badly abused by Bubba. I will save this one.
