.270 Win Mauser 98 Custom with Conetrol Rings

    Hi everyone.

The more I get out in the bush, the more animals I'm seeing at close range, and the handful of deer I've shot to date have all been under 60m. I just have no desire to shoot them any further than that, and even at close range, I'm just not getting the buzz I'm after with a rifle...as much as I'd like to. Horses for courses.

So I'm going to switch to archery (something I did for a few years prior to getting into guns). I've got the time on my hands and the determination to become really proficient and deadly with a bow - so that's the way I'd like to go.

This Mauser is an amazing rifle and will suit anyone who has good taste in firearms and wants something which is as accurate as it is beautiful.

*The stock is made by Kevin Gaskill (cost around the $5k mark, if I recall correctly).

*The rings/bases are custom made by Conetrol in the USA. (RRP: $700)

*All the metal work was done by Allen Carr.

*The rifle action screws (hex screws) were custom made by Greg Hudson in Invercargill.

The rifle has always been meticulously cared for and there's not a speck of rust on it anywhere. Everyone who has picked it up has said something along the lines of ''holy f*ck, it balances so nicely''. That's what a custom rifle with good attention to detail gives ya.

*The bare rifle weighs just a smidge over 7 pounds.

    *24''barrel.

*Shoots under an inch with Factory ammo.

*Had less than 100 shots through it.

    *Very little felt recoil

    *Red, Pachmayr Decelerator pad

    $3000.00 ONO.

(The Swarovski Z6 scope will be listed seperately).

    Cheers,
    Frodo

I'll post some photos tomorrow of the rifle with the conetrol mounts and the Swaro Z6 scope.

The pics Sarvo posted do it justice (I bought the rifle from him). I've used the rifle in the field since then and it's only got some minor blueing wear and a small ding near the butt of the stock. Pretty easy to remedy both if need be.

The complete rifle build was in the ballpark of 8.5-9k (without scope or mounts), so at 3k you're getting a bargain.

    The bolt cycles like glass.

Would have kept her if I wasn't going to switch to a stick and string.

Yes $$$$ - but no more than a Sako or Kimber or maybe even another mass produced example like a Tikka (new but)

Mate are you sure you want to be selling that!
You will be kicking your self for a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time to come.
The chances you get to own another are slim.
    Can understand the bow switch.
    But are you sure.
It's all fun and games till Darthvader comes along
I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
