    .284

i feel the need for a slight step up in grunt over the .260, so looking for a .284 or similar as i still want to run a short barrel. probably go to a dirty old t3 to keep it simple. so anything out there before i go building one myself?

My barrel is 20" and I push the 140gn Bergers at 3040fps. That does the bizzo. Check this link for the latest victims......

To right, but the problem is now the freezer is chokka the wife says I won't need to go out hunting for a while now!

On another note, in that first spiker I recovered the projectile. Which I was surprised at as I had heard that the Bergers blow up or fragment upon entry.

All the animals I have shot with VLDs have resulted in a pass through with a decent sized exit and fragments of jacket left in the wound channel longest shot to date was 600m/656yds on a big bull tahr, shoulder shot and it still passed right through. They impart a lot of energy I have always found the vitals to be soup. Great projectile.

I have a mint winchester extreme weather. Been shooting 140sst and loaded some 150eld but haven't shot yet.
More than I need for my purposes. Has a fluted barrel so not sure how that goes for shortening. Currently 22inch

Be like me @Kudu. If I have an over supply I make sure its all given away by the time I drive into my gateway.
By the way, the RF arrived. All good.
