Hey, anyone like my counsellor impression?
A little bit underdone. No buzzwords, lacks a certain............ snowflake quality.

I dont need snowflake counselling , but thanks very much for the offer.

Have a mate who swore by the M1 Carbine for killing pigs in a pen for pork. Best rifle ever for that purpose , and his was a Korean War issue version.
Cats have nine lives-which makes them ideal for experimentation...

Ive used 151grn hp cast at subsonic speed to do that job....yip very effective, but so was .45long colt with cowboy loads...pig in a pen doesnt take a whole lot of killing. you need enough to go in and do the job without enough to over penertrate...lack of big bang is a bonus.

I bought my first M1 carbine (1st issue National Postal Meter in excellent original nick) at an Antique Arms auction when I was about 22 years old (1969). I paid $50 for it and got reamed out by the old boys for driving the prices up! I have since owned several various models including an M2 and an M1A1. They are neat but fairly useless unless you are within biting range!

I inherited an original IBM M1 with a couple 15r mags. Supposedly came through the family, originating with a Great Uncle who served in WWll.

Fun gun to shoot- Dad took a couple deer with it from the bulldozer door while working out the back of farms.

A nice piece of history- can understand the prices I guess. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Side note: All of the M1s on GC site have a bayonet lug- an addition for Vietnam? Making them worth less than an original WW2 config?

No, the second issue carbines in WW2 had bayonet lugs and adjustable sights. No carbines were made after WW2 apart from commercial clones which are not worth much and are generally inferior quality.

Yep, but so does the 15 round magazine. A 1st issue carbine is OK on A cat with a 7 round mag.
