    303 #1 rifle

    For sale
    303 Enfield SntLE 111*
    So thats a Number 1 ?

Clearly I'm not up to speed on these.
I have owned this for almost 50 years and not fired it for 45 years until today.
My father had it for about 20 years before giving it to me.
Collectively in those 70 years the round count is less than 50 as he was a fisher not a hunter and I only used it for a few years before moving on to a more modern rifle ( and in the 80s there were no deer anyway ! ).

So this is whats on it.

    Enfield
    1918
    SntLE 111*
NZ 4882 on the receiver, barrel and rear sight.
Receiver and barrel marked bold SS and double arrows. I'm assuming this is sold out of service marks ?
    Wood is shortened
Barrel is full length and front sight is original ( I think but not battle ears and no obvious cut and grind )
    Rear sight has ears etc
    Top wood and clip
    original trap butt plate
    No stock disc
No extra holes in the metal work

The barrel actually looks quite clean and shiny. I know it been looked after as well as possible in the last 50 years and never shot.
I couldn't use the sights to save my life so can't actually give a realistic accuracy assessment of its potential, but I do have modern rifles who's barrels look worse than this.

A knowledgeable forum friend thought $350 was the going rate is someone wanted a straight one of these that hasn't been molested.
    So that's where its at.
Lots of images for you guys to answer your own questions

    Cheers

I was hoping you guys would just correct any of my mistakes and head things in the right direction.
Having a big clean out in preparation of ripping into some other projects

I'm left handed and never got to like these.
But to be fair I was young and green and got beaten up by it in my early teens

Unusual to keep the top rear wood intact and unmolested.

The correct designation is 'Rifle, No.1, Mk.III*'.

Do tell... I still find that loosing a box of 174gn is enough, two packs is just silly.
