love the rifle rest...interesting you rest barrel directly on it...always been told thats a no no....guess it works as it is for you,740 yards and you hitting with iron sights means you must be doing something right LOL.

yeah took me awhile to get used to doing it that way @Micky Duck
while you are 100% correct about it being a no no
that's because modern hunting rifles and such are shot in lots of positions and if you rested on barrel and not the stock your poi changes every time you change position
once you zero the rifle rested on the barrel it must always be rested on the barrel some even go as far as putting a mark on the barrel so its rested in the same spot
buffilo rifles were between 10 and 18lb so they are not offhand rifles
they were shot off cross sticks exclusively so thats how we do it aswell
thankyou for taking time to explain that to me...... makes perfect sense put like that.....and that looks like one heck of a lot of fun.I dont believe I get anywhere near the same fireball myself, with .45/70,small smoke cloud for sure, but havent seen fireball.heck Im happy to hit what Im aiming towards at 74 yards with irons....
BTW ofcorse I'm not saying that a 38-50 hepburn is a buffalo rifle
just buffalo style builds
yep its the most fun you can have with pants on
