.303 headspace gauges/ No 5 Jungle carbine ladder sight

I've just acquired a Jungle Carbine, but it is missing the original ladder sight, if anyone has seen one for sale I'd appreciate a heads up.
Also as it's not the only .303 I'm trying to restore, I reckon I could do with a set of headspace gauges, even just a 'Field' gauge would be handy, but I haven't seen them for less than $50 each.
    Any info appreciated, cheers, Tom

Tom I was shown how to headspace years ago with an empty deprimed case.
Partly seat a primer chamber the case and close the bolt, remove the case and measure the case length over the primer. Measure the case length to the rim and subtract that from the first reading.
Measure the rim thickness and add that to get the headspace value

Marty Henry's advice with the a primer is worthwhile. I gave up bothering to worry about headspace on my .303's. I never worried about it before the internet came along anyway and nothing happened. If the case looked alright after firing, then just neck size if if you reload. If you don't reload then don't worry about it. Unless you're getting case head separations or splits with factory ammo, then the rifle is fine.
