    308/260/6.5 creedmore

Just looking for a rifle for a mate. A first deer rifle, anything in the calibres above considered. Mostly bush and clearing type hunting hence avoiding the long actions.

His budget is a max of 1500 inc scope.

Really need to be reloading for either a .260 or 6.5 Creedmore. Very limited factory ammunition available to match with rifle, when available and very expensive. Better to stick with 308, 7mm08, 243 etc common calibres.

Was thinking the same, surely the humble 7mm08 should not be left out, there is a reason it is so popular, and its not because half of Aucklanders are fags (even tho that is most likely the case)

    That's being unkind to homosexuals.
Most T3 7mm08 owners are metrosexuals.

When you work in a sporting shop ammunition isn't a issue for my mate :-). We all know what the 3 can do etc so it's pointless discussing known points. The 6.5s are the in thing at the moment and as such rifles and ammunition are easier to get by the month. The 308 is the patriarch of the short action family and rightly so. Would consider a 7-08 but really the 3 calibres as listed are the preferences. I'll be passing them on to him and let ya know as I'm told :-)

Have a rebarrelled Remington Mohawk 600 with new Rem 700 barrel weaver rings Burris E1 3-9x 40 and V&P precision suppressor. Have a young fella wanting to buy it for $1250 but he's dragging the chain getting his gun licence so if your mates interested could let it go.
