Do you know the Make ?

Whilst on the subject of 410 - anyone throw some light on its capability with slugs
As in - effective kill range and accuracy on Deer/Pig
Not that its intended use is for such, but if out on Possum - Rabbit stalk would have a solid in my pocket for sure
Also what is the lightest shot available in the 410 #7 ??

Have found them coming up short as a "bail gun" with slugs, prefer 20g.

    rightho old bean you asked....
you can buy #9 clay loads of half oz
possums try #4 in 3'' shell preferably winchester
deer and pigs you would be better off with 5 ball 00 buckshot...if you cant find it to buy its super easy to make....my whackamole loading set is out on long term loan at present.....you CAN load the shells will buggerall if you carefull to redo the crimp....in break open gun its not rocket science and can get away with lots. effective range....15 yards would be a safe bet.... the bakails are a great safe wee gun........you can make up a chamber insert on lathe and they work great.

Not a lot of powder behind it ah ??
I have only ever used slugs in 12g - and not many at that
Remember as a kid/teen - splitting a Totara strainer post in half - old man was not happy as it had a gate swinging off it too :-(

think .243 at 300 yards...from memory its a 85grn projectile doing about 1600fps....buts its soft lead and not so accurate.
there isnt a lot I havent shot with the wee .410 over the years.

Was hoping to look at one today in H&F Blenheim - but they had nothing there
The same gun comes with full length barrel too I think

It doesn't matter what you buy gun wise, it's the "grunt" that goes in the chamber that counts, 410 doesn't have it for larger game animals.

What I am looking at shooting I don't think could be classed as " larger game animals"

plenty of pig hunters in the pines up north tried them as they are smaller and lighter than a .12ga the proof of the pudding is just how VERY few continued to use them.
its a bit like the .22lr when all is perfectly set up they work fine...but when its not, things turn to custard really quickly, and you dont have the extra ooomph to end things with a less than ideal shot placement.

Now leaning more towards a Baikal .22LR over 410 or 22 Magnum over 410 would be ideal
Anything out there - please let me know
Might be going to sell this if I find what I want (without Doctor Holographic - that went a while ago and have a VX-R Pig Plex 1.25-4x20mm (30mm) on her now)

I doubt there is a nicer 7.62x39 Baikal out there !!

a rifle bullet like that is superior in every way

suppressed 410s are really amazing, a friend showed me his and immedaitly went out and got one to suppress
sort of ill get to it eventually

the base rifle is an eternal single shot break open hammer ect and was $199 from hunting and fishing
