    .416 Ruger project

    .416 Ruger project

This is one project that I would love to have completed, but due to a brain injury, crap & lazy Gunsmith's (Status Guns in particular) and a need of funds for my roar trip, but I need to move it on because it's done my head in.

    Consists of the following:
    1. Original 1920-30's Sporting Mauser action, Action port opened up for length (English style) Bolt face opened up for the .416 round. Action rails still require opening up. Not tapped for mounts.
    2. New Blackburn bottom metal. 1988 manufacture. Will fit 3x round capacity. Final polish required. Quality is second to none.
    3. New TSE .416 Ruger chambered barrel with Mauser thread. Heavy Sako profile. Will require profiling for iron sights, a classic profile crown and final head-spacing. Plenty of steel on the chamber end- could be re-threaded for another action of your choosing.
    4. D.Maisey Oberndorf teardrop style bolt handle blank.
    5. New ERA Recknagel recoil lugged rear sight sleeve, 3-bladed express rear sight blank and banded front sight with silver bead and hinged ivory ghost hood for charging elephants.
    6. Leupold QR gloss blue 1 inch med rings and bases, small modification to one corner for clearing bolt. Does not detract.
    7. 16 x Hornady Dangerous game .416 Ruger rounds & 3 cases.
    8. New Els & Co 5x round leather ammunition holder for the 416.
    9. New boxed 50x Woodleigh Weldcore PP SN 340gr projectiles (not pictured)

Items are new or like new, and cost me stupid amounts of money and time to accumulate. I'm talking 4 years and over $3000. The Recknagel sights were $750 by themselves and you'd struggle to bring in the Blackburn bottom metal for under $1000 these days.
My idea was to build a slim and sleek Mauser classic using a standard size cartridge that could take any animal worldwide easily.
Dan Hardy has .416 Ruger listed on his website as a possible chambering so he could complete the head spacing etc.

I'm looking for $1800 or will consider splitting items. If I don't get that I will try again when the current crop of Gunsmith's have died off and my boys can use it. Maybe in another 30 years...

    PM for contact.

That looks like an awesome project. Pity my wallet is full of moths at the moment.

Could look at part swap with a carbon fibre stock Stug. I'm open to offers...
