    45-70 barrels

Hi guys my usual home machining making, I have two blank barrels chamber for the 45-70 cartridge, one is 27-1/2" long and the other one is 25-1/2". 1-1/4" round stock =4140, six grove cut rifling with a 1-18" twist. Ends machined true to the bore before rifling for datum and lapped bore to smooth things out. As they are already chambered saves a bit of work but a bit more for me, asking $300 ea. Just think, a double barrelled duck stuffer upper!!. .

Would be interesting to make a double rifle. If you sell these before I decide, how long would it take to make 2 more.

As long as it has not got more than 10 barrels....

$300 is a very good price for a cut rifling barrel, most barrels made today are button rifled with the stresses that entails... and you pay extra for cryo relieving those stresses, just to put it back to what a cut rifled barrel is.
    Bad choices kill.
    Feeling lucky today?

Yep, I checked with Heat treatments ltd when I made my Sharps rifle and because the barrel was cut rifled no heat stress relieving required. I`ve sold about eight so far and no grumps, and Micky`s swotting the blow flies with bullets like hapuku sinkers so must be ok.

OK guys, the 27" barrel has gone, helped someone with a new project, that leaves the 25- 1/2" one left. Think I`ve got a monopoly on large bore barrels, going out like hot cakes.

I have improved my barrels a lot since I made the Sharps barrel , it has a left hand twist 1-20". All are now made with right hand twist and just think, there could be a 20" .50 in S/S steel coming up some time,

    Just one left, bump!!!
