    6.5x55 Winchester mod70 featherweight

    Hi all,

    Having a bit of a clear out - I have a Win mod70 push feed in 6.5x55. Good overall condition. Had been cut down to suit young person or women so has a limbsaver tacked on the end at the moment. Wee bit ugly but perfectly functional. Barrel shiny rifling ok still has plenty of life in it. Action very nice and trigger is great. Very good shooter. PM if interested or any question - after $600.00.

    Cheers all.

    Hi, is the barrel original and is the pad taped or is that the length of the pad where it meets the stock.

    Hi there - original barrel. 1" limbsaver pad is epoxied on and that's just some tape over the top. It could do with a new grind to fit pad (but perfectly practical as is ATM) hence the low price. Its only had about 1/2 inch wood taken off the end of the stock when it was originally cut.

    I'm pretty tempted , I can get a new stock for the two screw LA featherweight but not the 3
    A half inch only off the stock you say,
    how hard getting the pad off now that it has been glued on?

    hmmm....

    @Bundook
    Mate - if I hadn't already bought into the 308W 'mystique' and the bones were up to trudging around the bush, I'd have it!
    Once had an M96 milsurp in 6.5 x 55 that I just couldn't miss with (open sights). Longest shot with weak kneed factory load was 265 paces, across an open paddock. The pig dropped on the spot, never twitched. One of those rifles one never should have sold, along with a 22/250 Rem BDL and a 25/06 Rem CDL Varmint. 35 years ago - 31 years too young and looking for the next 'great' thing. PM me if you've still got it in a month - might be able to work something out

    Jakewire - pad off in five minutes with a bit of careful hacksaw and sanding. I didnt glue it on but it looks straight forward to me. Its actually not too a bad fit as it is.

    Epoxy softens substantially above 50 degrees.

    Hopefully the buttstock of the rifle doesn't hit 50 degrees then ;D
