    7.62x51mm R1M1 BALL AMMO

I have 850 rounds of 7.62x51mm R1M1 BALL AMMO available, the majority of which is still sealed in its vinyl pouches. There is one opened pouch, plus some loose rounds.

    $850.

Strictly pickup only, in Onehunga, Auckland during work hours, or Drury at other times by arrangement. Sorry but trying to freight ammo is not worth the hassle.

Would prefer to sell it as a bulk lot but if there are others that want it on a pack by pack basis I guess it can be done.
Lets see what interest there is ……….

That brings back memories. On every official police shoot in South Africa, many cases of that stuff was loaded up into the Caspers. Nothing ever came back to the armory afterwards though. If we'd shot it all, every LMG would have melted at least two barrels each. I wondered where some of it ended up. If someone had of said NZ...I'd have replied with, 'Where's that?' Small World indeed...

A lot of it ended up under our stairs! And in our ceilings!

Every farmer in our neck of the woods had a .308, .223 and a 9mm because we could get loads and loads of free ammo!
Hell we used to shoot a lot!

We certainly have the facilities to store a lot of munitions. The "famous four" being:

    91 Ammunition Depot Naboomspruit (Limpopo)

    92 Ammunition Depot Witbank (Mpumalanga)

93 Ammunition Depot Jan Kempdorp (Northern Cape)

97 Ammunition Depot De Aar (Northern Cape)

97 is the biggest (~29 rugby fields) with around 180 bunkers serviced by 50km of rail in addition to its own airfield. Here's a picture of 97 from Google Earth at 10km altitude:

Fun fact: As of 2011 there were approximately 78 000 tons of munitions stored across the depots, 23 000 of which are at 97. Obviously not all of it bullets and the majority of it is timex and they are still trying to figure out how to get rid of it safely.

I love timex ammo. Only one way to get rid of it... Always throws in a few surprises like the 40mm we "disposed of" once. One grenade took a full 5 min to go off after landing on a bank about 100 m away.

Since there are no takers on the bulk lot of ammo, I will sell it per battle pack.

5x unopened battle packs (140 rounds each pack) - $150 per pack
1x opened battle pack with 100 rounds in their boxes, plus 50 loose rounds (150 rounds) - $150

Auckland pickup only. PM me if interested.
