Too hot for a bolt action apparently. Goes good in an SKS though.

I thought bolts were normally stronger than semi's.

That's very firearm dependent. SKS rifles have a very strong tilting block action.

I don't see how that works , rifles are proofed by testing them with +25% loads and 7.62x39 is only a 40,000 psi round . Any action can handle 50,000 with ease .

Ok, the person I got the ammo off FELT it was too hot for THEIR bolt action. Not trying to make any kind of generalisation. YMMV etc.

Only problem I had with the chinese steel case x39 in my JW was the extractor claw breaking off, which was a known issue with any ammo in these rifles. Got some spares from Canada via a GC on the forum, and while that happened Gundoc made a replacement from decent spring steel, which looked and felt 10x stronger.

I would assume 40,000 is SAAMI specs? Military ammo may not be SAAMI so who knows but yes you would expect a modern bolt action to handle the stress. Regardless of what a rifle is proofed too, failure pressure will obviously vary.
