    8mm milsurp ammo

I'm pretty sure I have 2 boxes that have been opened and taped back up and a bunch of loose rounds, probably 20-30

It's all fmj stuff, I'll have to do a count and get numbers, I'll take a pic too.

Offers or swaps? I have no idea what its worth but going to waste with me as I rather have sp ammo.

Toby knock the bullets out and sell them to the scrapman put the powder in the garden as fertiliser and reload the brass. The 8x57 likes faster powder 2208 being as slow as you need to go, 2206, 4895, 3031 give great speed up to the 170 projectile.
    Toby likes this.

I was planning on pulling them but the primers are crimped in and I read you need a tool to take them out? Only reason I was going to get rid of them

I got a new bottle of 2208 on here for 40 bucks and 100 170 semi spitzers for $47, not too bad going eh? Now to buy new dies since fast ways lost my old ones.

I have of those Berdan primer removers you can have it if you want it. Also why not just pull the bullets and try the soft points with the existing powder.

What parts corossive? Powder or primer? If its the powder then I would throw it away.

That tool sounds good cheers. I'll pm you when I get on the computer

The primers are usually corrosive as they have salts in them. Some powders are but that's mainly the cordite stuff. Just pour hot water down barrel after you shoot it to clean the barrel

you dont need to remove the primer to reload the case. Unless you have a new Berdan primer to replace the old one with you are achieving nothing because you cant use a Boxer primer in that case.

Just pull the bullets and seat a sporting on in its place. Wash your barrel with hot water after use , oil it and you will be good to go.

Ahh righto then, I could convert it though couldn't I?

If I just pull and swap projectiles will I have to re size the neck before putting in a new bullet?

You cant convert berdan pockets to boxer, even if you grind off the "little spikey thing" (anvil) in the pocket as the berdan pockets usually run .217,.238, or .254 in and a large rifle is .210 in. Also if the original primer is mercuric, it not only be corrosive but it will make the fired brass brittle so it cant be reloaded. IMO, the best idea is either sell it or have a little range war all on your own.

I'll probbly sell it. Best offer is 20 bucks

I watched a video on youtube of how to convert them. Bit too much work for me. Easier for me to just turn 30-06 brass into 8mm

I have done the conversion thing with primers and don't think I would bother again unless it was the only way to shoot a particular rifle!

Go shoot some rabbits or cans with the ammo
