Thread: 9.3x62 Chamber reamer

Anyone have one of these that they might part ways with? Or even be willing to rent?


I've got a beautiful 9.3x62 Mauser that a forum member asked me to fix. He got the rifle in parts and upon assembly discovered that the sights are off by a few degrees. For scoped use it does'nt bother, but being a dangerous game gun the owner wanted to shoot it using the open sights.

Anyone?

Alan Carr has/had one. He rechambered a mates x57 to x62 a few years ago.
Seeing its already a 9.3 x62 I'm not sure how the reamer will fix the sights. Surely drifting either the front or rear or both would be the answer.

I'm assuming that there's enough meat on the chamber end to redo the rear sight base dove tail and then rechamber to suit?

Means the sights are axially out by a few degrees. Requires a gnats cock to be taken off the thread face to permit the barrel to be screwed into the action said gnats cock, bringing the front sight up to 12 O'clock. Then chamber is going to have to move forward the same gnats cock....I think.

That makes sense. I was thinking of a different issue altogether. Just wind the fucker in a bit more, torque to yield.

Unless it has a reciever mounted rear it won't matter at all, simply cant the rifle to get the sights vertical.
Most people don't hold true if snap shooting anyhow.
However i can see if it's significantly out it will look weird.
I suspect that in the pile of parts this rifle appears to be the barrel and reciever have not been introduced before.

depends which way the sight platform is canted - could be a gnats whisker , or could be 350 degrees out .

XR500 you've got it. The front sight an easy move, but the rear sight is fitted into a,slot that has been milled into the barrel.

I plan on removing just a little less than 1 thread to get the sights back at 12:00 and then push the chamber forward.

Seems I'm gonna visit Alan, luckily he should live quite close.
