Yeah the trends come and go, we inherited these with the property as previous owner couldnt find a home for them.

Paid $17k for one of our boys at the peak. Would fetch maybe $1k now. Also used a stud rumored to have cost equivalent of NZ$250k out of the States. Whole time we had him we never put him in any of the roadside paddocks - was shit scared some f..kwit would do a drive past and gun him down with a 22 or dogs would come onto our property…. Glad when he was gone.

Talked to my mum and she reckons they are trying to downsize their little herd also so no luck there, she's probably making room for more donkeys or miniature ponies or goats or other such creatures

I was hoping to pick a couple up in abut 6 months but we have not quite got a section ready yet. If I can find somewhere to keep them I would be interested. My wife knits with the wool, and always wanted a couple for pets, but until we get the section sorted, we are not ready for them quite yet.....

Anyone seen that episode of MeatEater where they use a couple of these things as pack horses? I'm not sure DOC would be too pleased about it tho.

Weve got a bit of time, Im in the process of deer fencing so I can run a few fallow but work keeps getting in the way. They hand feed, didnt shear them this year so have a good length of fiber.
