    The Orange/Alloy piece is the base/anvil, the comparator bullet/headspace bushings clip into it

    AHA....so now I can see how it works...gives proper measure of distance from shoulder to base......or somesuch....
    and I take it the wee brass shells with threaded bums work with another dohicky to measure how far into case to seat a projectile??? I believe Ive got one of the dohickies needed to do that bit LOL.

    The anvil base goes on the other end of the calipers to give it a flat surfaces instead of the jaws of the caliper itself which can wobble about a bit
