Based on the groupings I saw in the weekend I would not touch one unless you wanted a shottie.

    Was a 243 as well.

Looked very nice but groups ( if you could call them that) were all over the place like a mad women with the "runs" not consistently in one "area" either. I think it was on its way back to the retailer who sold it.

I know it was only one example but, just saying

Cheers. Thought a stainless Encore would be best...but really a Contender blued would be ok.

I think they are like that so you can put on short pistol barrels? It sure has nice wood tho.

not sure how much you want to spend but one of the hunting and fishings has a tikka t3 in 243 with a vx1 in really good condition for $1400(it is on trademe) but for that money you could pick up a howa and upgrade the scope with change. Not sure what calibres they have but seen broncos in Tauranga is doing a deal at the moment. Browning a-bolt 3 blue with scope for $999 but if all else fails you could pick up a ruger American/redfield scope combo from fishcity/h&f(?) for $1000 so you have a good rifle and good scope. Fish city are also doing a savage trophy package with weaver scope for under a grand.
My 2cents and you have a wide variety to chose from =)
