AR-15 Tool 50mm slotted barrel nut

    Hey guys,

I need a tool to get this barrel nut off. Nut is 50mm and it is a Yankee Hill Rail.

Went down to the gun shop today but they could not take it off with a standard AR-15 tool.

Anyone know where I can get one in NZ for a reasonable price?

I think it is this thing here:

If you dont mind being a little rough I've used a flat head screw driver on an angle and hammered it round and seemed to work ok

    Ben,

The reason for that nut is to time the handguard. You screw the handguard on to the right with your hand facing towards the upper, when aligned you do up that lock ring the oppisite way to take the slack out iof the thread.

With your hand the same way it would be right to undo, left to tighten. It should not be done up tight, tight.

You may be inadvertently tightening it. you could place a soft brass punch in the slott and gently tap it the correct direction.

Try some heat if that fails.

Just ate some spinach and managed to get it off. Thanks for the offer @Tentman, and thanks @300_BLK for advice.
