    AR15

Is it so hard to buy a good AR at a good price? Lol
It appears that some prices are well inflated. I'm in the market for a nice A cat set up between 2-3k. Is it better to get one built? Fark, where do you even start? Top tips?

NZAR15 had the NEA ones going for 1500 but I missed out due to being stuck in the whops. Thoughts on NEA? Also missed out on bidding on a good one on TM, went for 1560 with a fair few extras ($600 +/-)

GC have the Ranger AR's for about $1300 (less if you are a good negotiator). They are Chinese made but bloody good quality (every bit as good as the US stuff) and available in a variety of barrel lengths. I have one with a chrome-lined, 7" twist, 20" barrel, and it is very accurate and totally reliable. It shoots the 69 grain HPBT loads into 12mm groups at 100 metres. I had it on a goat cull last weekend and tipped over a goat at a lasered 509 metres. I had a good rest and I have a Nikon P223 4-12 range compensating scope which I had set to 500. I also use it for bunnies out to 300 metres. I have fitted a Hypertech trigger (with a smidge of tuning by myself) which are only US$89 from Brownells.

I could be talked into selling my spikes tactical ar15.
    Came from Ken at nzar15.
    Has 1 7round magazine.
And has fired less than 50 rounds.
Has no sights on it now.

Another vote for Ken, he put together my Aero with Katipo stock and Seekins forend for only $1850, pretty good deal when you look at what you can get from Gun City for that price. Also recommend the Aero receivers, solid mil-spec forged 7075, you can't go wrong.

Nice set up. What's your price? And what's it's selling points over the average AR?

Spikes build their gun/parts to mil-spec standards where it counts, only deviating from them when an improvement can be made or tailoring to a specific use. Detailed quality control, they don't take shortcuts to save cost, like the majority of brands on the market. Same goes for BCM, Daniel Defense, Colt (excluding the Colt Expanse), FNH, plus quite a few others, but those are the main brands you'll find in NZ.
