I'd go 17 HMR or 204, hornet doesn't give much more than the HMR, had probs with the cases splitting and you have to reload as rounds are expensive, you also have to save your cases after each shot. The 204 I have to reload to be economical, but it's a yahoo round for long range small game.

@Happy had a couple of Varmint rifles he was getting rid of after playing with all the 20 cal's to see what he liked.

Pretty sure it was Hornet and 204 that he was getting rid of.

I have a Ruger 77/17 Hornet, Threaded 1/2x20 MAE Suppressor 2 mags, new unused reloading gear the works, and nowhere near as expensive as the one on TM... No scope on it.

PM me if interested. Cheers Craig
@Cody.a PM me if interested, I can't seem to get photos to upload.

The .17 Hornet will never be for sale. It's way awesome. Ammo vs $ who cares.
I still have 22 Hornet for sale in CZ

And a 204 REM heavy barrel it's wicked as well. 204 is the winner of the two

Yeah the .17 Hornet only gives another 1000fps over the .17hmr, pretty minor gains to be had.

I think he more meant for the hassle of reloading you may as well spend a little more and shoot a larger cartridge.

Doesnt get out much further than the HMR and the 204 are good step up for longer ranger with a heavier projectile?

Yep and you can shoot the HMR like a big .22 being a rim fire, no case to worry about!!

How can someone called Happy be Grumpy? Besides which he is only a spring chicken compared to you Maca
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
