    Basic Kestrel

    Hi Guys and Girls

Looking for a basic Kestrel wind meter if anyone has one they'd like to move on. I already have devices which can do temp, pressure, etc so I figure a Kestrel 1000 is really all I need but I'd consider a (slightly) higher specced model.

    cheers
    Will

you squeeze them and then measure how far off line they go that will give you your windage but you have to carry a lot of bananas for a multiday trip.

I like the look of all these not sure what money we’re talking with the kestrels. But probably more than the banana option.

Cheers guys I've actually gone with the Skywatch option. Thanks for the advice @GWH. Got the Explorer 2 as I already have altitude etc on my watch, and ballistics in phone/Leica RF. Should get me started with improving my judging of wind which is what this is all about.

That's what I went for. The one on TM. Have to pay an extra 10 bucks for the cover, mind. I don't know if that's a good price all I know is it's a lot less than a kestrel! Plus the guy selling it has 100% feedback so with any luck it will arrive. @Cartman
