    Blaser 243 barrel

    R93 barrel

Good condition externally, internally has some blemishes but still seems to shoot absolutely fine.

Would prefer pickup so you can have a look down it yourself.

    Factory length not threaded

    $1000

Don't worry I have thought about it but only to cut off that barrel and fit a barrel in another caliber

Get hold of Muscles at Desert guns in Cromwell.
He did one of mine when he was at Gunworks and did a brilliant job.
Every factory blaser barrel I have had, has rusted and pitted in the bore here on the coast.

Just tried ringing, phone goes to automated message saying we are full and not taking any more work until Feb 2020... never known a successful business to flat out reject work without even a conversation

Really? He rubbished the idea of the rebarrel of blasers not long ago claiming safety issues and all that.
    Wonder what changed his mind?

I wonder if Desert guns is doing all the mods for semi 22 and cowboy guns. Some businesses are tied up the same but should be done by the 20th of this month.
He could also be away for a few months overseas or something.

Be keen to hear how it goes. Any idea on price for gunsmithing?

Possibly, it does seem a bit odd anyway. Can you remember roughly what it costs? I think Dan hardy was like $600 plus barrel which seemed high

I have had 3 done and all were around a grand at the time, including barrel. But that was between 5 and 10 yrs ago.
To be fair, I think 600 + barrel is reasonable considering the work required.
Barrel has to be parted off and receiver trued. Receiver has to be bored and threaded even before a normal chamber, threading and fit of replacement barrel.
The blaser steel is nitrided and iirc can only be done at slow speeds with carbide tooling.

Once done you are back to a standard rebarrel cost if anything else takes your fancy in future.
I love the blasers practicality and accuracy but didn't have much time for their standard barrels rusting.
I knew I wasn't going to ever replace the rifle so was happy to stomach the cost. All of them shoot better than I can and to me has been worth it. They're all still in excellent order.
What is a new R93 barrel worth these days anyway? $1600-$1700?

They have fully stopped making r93 barrels now so rebarrel is only option. If I bought a low round count barrel for a standard action do you know if it could be made to work on the blaser?
