Stalking the Seasons Round? Roger Lentle book. A really good read, comes up on TM every now and then. It took me a while to get a tidy copy at a fair price.
Are Lentle and Saxson still alive? While Saxon would be pretty old now Lentle would be in his 70s?
I bought all there books when I moved to CHCH in the 90s and trying to Hoover up all hunting wisdom. Still have a peak every now and then.
Both still alive and working I think. I picked up a good hardcopy version off here a few weeks back. They do pop up every now and again. Failing that, they're often in the reference section of your local library. At least, there's a copy in Christchurch Central library.
Yeah sorry, I meant Stalking the seasons round.
I’ve got one you can have. I just need to find it. Pm me ya details etc and I will get it away to you next week - assuming I find it.
@gilly a shame you didn't see my WTB post from a less than two weeks ago - I would have paid you a fair price for this ...
@thatguy it's all good mate no worries![]()
Ive got a copy that is going to @Vietnamcam when I get around to posting it.
Out of interest, I bought my copy in 1993 and it cost $39.95
One of the authors, Dr Roger Lentle, hunted the Pari stream area in the Ruahines a lot and I think that is where he based a lot of his theories from. We met him at the Rangi hut once and he was heading over the back by the tarns. When we said that we were going to drop into the stream by the rock pile 1/3 up the hut ridge he said "you won't get anything down there". We got a couple and he came back empty handedI don't say this to diss him because he was a good man and a dedicated hunter. But deer are where you find them and its a lot easier if you know the area well. We had cut a track down from that rock pile to opposite a slip on the Mangawairiki stream. I wonder if the track is still there.
Ah, I've got a signed copy of this book with signatures from both authors. Didn't know it was so valuable.
