Brno 308 for sale on TM

    Hi guys,

I'm a sucker for brnos and I've seen one that tickles my fancy on trade me.

Apart from asking the obvious questions like what condition the bore is in and how many rounds roughly down the barrel what else should I be asking or looking for? Do you think this is a fair price to pay?

    https://www.trademe.co.nz/1759623549

Cheers for any tips in advance.

I'm no expert at all, but isn't that a old WW2 era rifle with another stock and been rebarreled? I think you can get much nicer for that money, ZKK. @Spudattack knows his Brnos

Itís a VZ24 Brno action which has been used to build this rifle.

They are actually a pretty good action.

I think the biggest question would be who built it, find that out and see what research you can find about what work has been done in building it.

Could be an absolute bargain for a high end custom with blueprinted trued action and barrel, or it could be a shitter with the barrel screwed into a rough military action and slapped in a nice looking stock.

It looks good from the pictures but hard to tell.

Cheers Spudattack. Going by the guys profile hes a furniture maker by trade so I'm assuming hes done the stock and other work on it. One of his past sales on another rifle said his grouping was based on his opinion and not trialled according to the buyer and the firing pin was not working properly. This was the other firearm not this one but I am questioning like you said is it going to be what it's made out to be or a dud purchase?
@veitnamcam isn't this guy in your neck of the woods? Want to go have a looksie?

Seller doesnt allow pick ups so probably wont allow viewing and is in"the sounds" so anywhere from 2 to 6 hours drive from here plus whatever boat travel.

I am $500 dollars an hour plus expenses on weekends with good boating weather.

That's cheap by Auckland rates @veitnamcam

In all seriousness, I think theres too much risk involved with this purchase so I've jumped to another brno 243 with Gun City.
