    BSA Hunter .222

BSA Hunter .222. Early model with controlled round feed. A real NZ classic.
Genuine 2 owner rifle, with its current owner hunting with it since 1961.

Bore at 8/10, bright, clear rifling with some light frosting just at the last inch.

Stock retains some of its chequering but the original buttplate and grip cap remain. Wrist is solid but schnabel has the typical crack on the left side.
Original open sights (and amazingly the sight hood) are still there. Tasco 4x32 scope sits in low Parker Hale rings.
Bottom metal straight but with little finish remaining.

Beautiful rifles, these were a real lightweight sporter before carbon fibre and fluting came along.
$800ono, pick up only in Wellington.

Looks like the open sights have been regulated for the 50gn bullet.

Looks like the open sights have been regulated for the 50gn bullet.
Also - a couple of forums (with Mr Google's help), give lots of information on the S/N codes.
Yours looks like it has been a '2AXXXX', with the 'A' over stamped with a 'B'.
A poster called 'Brithunter', on the forums I looked at, seems to be the 'go to' guy for any info about BSA & PH rifles of the early 50's to the 80's.

Thanks Wally, I was only selling it on behalf of a mates Dad so I never shot the rifle. I believe most early .222 & .223's often had slow twist barrels usually aimed at lighter projectiles, so the sights being regulated for 50gr's would seem logical. Thanks for the insight.

By the way everyone, the rifle is sold pending funds.
