carbon or mcmillan a3 or a5 stock for rem 700 SA

Hi guys, Iím after a carbon fibre or McMillan stock to fit my Remington 700 SA. I do like the McMillan A5 tactical style but open to similar styles but needs to be light & tough as! Looking to replace my AICS 1.5 to lighten my rifle for hunting & hills.
    Thanks in advance

Hi, do you have a plan for the AICS? I may be interested taking it off your hands if not.

    Cheers

Iíll see what arises with a replacement first but Iíll probably like some coin to help fund the replacement so will keep in touch. The AICS is absolutely awesome but at almost 2.5 kg it gets heavy up hills. Thatís the only reason Iím contemplating a change. Cheers

Iíve got one spare but same weight as the one youíve got basically (senator 1.4kg). If you want light but tough in that style but with a slimmer stiff for end look at the Ken Henderson one with alloy bedding block. Probably one of the better ones Iíve seen for shape fit and Finnish. Also light.
The other one is the precision platforms. The shape is a little different and a little heavier. They are real solid. Iíve got one of the prototype laminate version (they do a carbon fiber) on a Sa rem 308 with a 16Ē barrel. It definitely makes that rifle easy and accurate to shoot in all positions.

Thanks for your message, so what stock do you have spare (a3, a4, or a5)?

The big clumsy beaver tail fore end was fine when shooting targets etc but pretty crap to carry around all day. The A3 has a nice slim fore end and no hook in the rear stock, much more pleasant to carry while still having the vertical grip. Iíd take an A3-5 over an A4, i dislike bulky boxy fore ends.

I agree with MSL. Ive got both and definitely prefer the A3 over the A5 for hunting.

I have a Ken Henderson on a rifle in very much considering splitting up. Not completely a3 style but very nice.

Its the Remington hunter version. Don't have one on me but can get one. its just the standards design not the more tactical
