    Cold room

    Hi,
A mate of mine is looking to buy a small cold room or cold store chamber unit with the capacity to hang a couple of carcasses if possible with the refrigerator system. One that work or that can be resonnably easily fixed.
Around the Waikato area would be ideal but anywhere else considered.
Please pm me if you have something.

    Cheers.

There are a couple home build ones on Facebook. I think it’s on NZ hunters sell page.

Look around your local truck wreckers for a refrigerated box body. Usually around the $1800 mark. They usually run off a power point too as the drivers plug them in overnight.

@Friwi This is what I'm going to use as a walk-in chiller. A 4-metre refirgerated truck box body that runs off mains power. It cost me $1300. I haven't hooked it up yet but will do so before summer. The next test will be to see whether it will stay at a constant 6-8 degrees C (without the motor running) so I can use it to dry cure hams and salamis during winter...

Depending on the price and specs it may be cost effective to do a DIY one anyway.

But the refrigerator truck body is a good idea. Less hassle

Same. Had a Fridgy do the compressor so that the humidity is better regulated. He also installed a proper rail. Runs between 0 and 3
Works a treat. I can get 2 whole yearling reds in mine at a squeeze.

    Hi,
It would be single phase, probably the easiest.
    Thanks.
