Custom Blaser R8 barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua

    Guys,

Selling my custom Blaser R8 barrel in 6.5x47L. Read below for how they were made.

Receiver was CMM'd off a sacrificed spare barrel I had laying around by Metal-Tech engineering. Hardness testing was completed by Heat Treatments and a suitable material sourced (17-4 PH stainless)

I had Metal-Tech draw up the CAD file then they machined it in a 5 axis CNC. While there, they also ground the threads of the receiver and barrel ensuring zero runout, fitted the parts together and then finish profiled them to the standard Blaser profile.

I then sent the barrel back to Heat treatments who induction hardened the collet lock up recess to match the factory hardness.

After that I sent it to NZ Hunter who did the chambering, suppressor threading and load development. Both the 123gr Amaxes load and the 130gr Berger loads ended up well below .5

Last but not least, I sent it off to Stu at Greystone who ceracoated the whole lot to match the factory metal work.

So receiver is a custom job as above and the barrel is a 1/8 Bartlein 5R finished at 24 inches

It's threaded for a suppressor. Threads are 15/1. Thread cap fitted.

    Fired 75 rounds.

The cost to me was, actually, I don't want to think about it. Let's just say lots.

I'm a realist though and will take $1000 for it complete with a .308 mag insert that feeds the rounds perfectly.

The upside for the buyer is that you will be able to reuse the receiver once your done with this barrel. It will literally never wear out.

I will be listing a 280AI that was done the same way separately.

Sorry about the novel but I wanted to ensure that potential buyers were aware of the process I went through developing these receivers and for them to know who was responsible for their manufacture.

I have a heap of brass and dies and shit that the buyer will be offered first option on. No, I will not be selling that stuff before the barrel is gone.

    Cheers

Turn it down to R93 dimensions and I'll take it

Sorry Cam, I should have been more specific, standard R8 profile, not dirty old R93

    They are quite different.

If it was for R93 I'd be all over it.

Er, R93 = Bolt Action Rifle of the Century

R8 = Still In Nappies and busy milking R93's reputation...

True, but that just means the R8 is less likely to ever earn that glory, since there will have been 92 more years of continued firearms development in it's Century that it has to compete with. By the year 2100, it'll be the Blaster R2093 Pulse Rifle that takes the cake. I've got my order in already 'cos we'll be on the Longevity Drug before then too
