    expired epirb

Wondering if anyone has an epirb with expired batteries laying around that they won't be getting reconditioned?

Looking for something my 9 year old can chuck in his bag when we go out (after I've fitted new cells of course).

I haven't looked into it, but would guess that cell replacement would not be very cost effective anyway.

generally the cost of a batter replacement is more than 2/3'ds the cost of a new unit.
Me, I just buy a new one and keep the old one too. Should I ever need it (on the bot) then I will plat the "dance of the help buttons) I'll press them all.

If it was one of my kids I would considered the purchase cheap insurance, I am not sure an expired with battery repacked by "Joe Blogs" would provide enough piece of mind

I am a electronics tech who works with similar tech on a daily basis, so this Joe Blogs has probably got it covered.
