    FS Browning BAR .243

This is an original Belgium made and assembled FN Browning BAR in .243. These rifles are extremely well made and were very expensive when new. Some 50% more expensive than what a Sako bolt action cost.

Unfortunately the original owner (deceased) had stored it away in his gun safe in a gun bag for many years as he was basically a pig hunter. This resulted in some parts of the barrel exterior and receiver to lightly rust causing very shallow pitting. Fortunately the barrel must have been well oiled as it is bright and shiny. I have had the barrel and receiver Milspec coated. They remove any trace of rust by sandblasting before coating. You can see where the pitting was although it is now coated and protected.

The piston and general condition of the internal components is in very good to excellent condition showing little sign of use. Everything has been stripped down, cleaned and lubricated. The woodwork is in quite good condition with some marks as to be expected of a hunting rifle. Apparently, the rifle has had less than 100 rounds through it according to a friend of the original owner.

I bought this as a favour to a friend of the original owner's widow. I am not making any money out of it and just want to recoup what it has cost me money wise. This is not accounting for the time I spent on it.

It would make a fine rifle for someone who is left handed or likes autos.

I have no idea how it shoots as I have no .243 ammo. The bore however is in very good condition so it should shoot okay.

$700 plus freight or pick-up from Tokoroa.

    No offers, no swaps, thanks.
