Had both. Encore (Eyeore??) was too heavy, and the grip angle on the Contender is something that is functionally OK but I could never warm to it's look . . . . at least the G2's mechanism works like any normal person might expect!

Sold my G2 last year in favour of the G1 but I've got a Contender G1 .223 barrel to sell, been intending on posting it up. An option if you find a Contender platform. G1 barrels fit the G2 frame and are lighter... Mil-spec coated, 17" barrel (makes it just over 762mm) threaded. Got Talley lightweight rings on top to go with a sale.

That figures that you would have had both !

I'm planning on putting an Encore on a crash and major chop and the Contender would be 300 BLK or such like

My Contender G1 in 30-30, red dot and suppressor is 2.05kg. Doesn't get much lighter...
