Put the same post up few weeks ago, no bites.
I have the explorer+, my mate wants one too.
Pretty handy. Only use txt function, mini will be sufficient.

I note Garmin just hiked their annual account fee up by 40% for this service. I wrote in and complained. They sent back a standard "we don't care" response.

What organizastion in the world can possibly think that a 40% increase in any price is an acceptable "adjustment" in this current global environment? Clearly only Garmin.

Oh well was going to get one but fuck Garmin. Will chat to the NZ rep next time I see him as he has always been easy to deal with.

Yeah I just set one up, bought it thinking the 35 bucks for a months subscription was ok once or twice a year, then got hit with another $120 in bullshit fees, which if I understood correctly are annual, making it a pretty pricey option for 2 or 3 trips a year...

Wow those fees are over the top if they're annual. Might just stick to my 64s and purchase a PLB. Anyone offloading one of these?

@planenutz yeah I did the same thing. In fact I even called them, stayed on hold for 30 mins. They Said they havenít raised prices in many years bla bla.. I said the same thing (40% though!!?).

Anyway, weighed it all up and just factoring it in to the cost of my sport. I Try to suspend it for the months I donít use it. Itís bloody convenient being able to communicate in non-emergency situation. Having the SOS is a bonus. But yeah that $60 annual fee is dumb!

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who complained @thatguy Good on you.

I told my wife about it and she told me I was a tightass and to just pay up... but it goes against the grain. 40% is highway robbery. And now I have a bit of a bitch-on for Garmin... not only because of this but also because of their shit attitude towards a bunch of stuff I have to deal with in my line of work.

After using one down south last year i thought the same thing, if i up graded my gps i would get one with the inreach. The annual cost put me off.
Also for me i would only want it on a month every year BUT if even the monthly price was reasonable i would use it all year round.
