    GPS

    Morning all.
    Lost my Garmin 62s somewhere in the kaimanawas,anyone got a similar unit with maps
    they want to part with??

    i just about wouldn't bother after talking to a mate who had his I phone 7 in thar country and still had 15% after 8 days.
    he had it on flight mode and was using the GPS camera and shooting app.
    it looks like phones are nearly there!

    Hey mate. I have a buddy that sells New Garmin 64S for $450. I think that includes a SD card with NZ topo maps. But I can check if you are interested.

    Make sure if your using the belt clip it 'clicks' into place, seen a few that aren't.

    My one fell out of breast pocket of my swannie near borland in fiordland... Must be 1000s out there in the nz bush

    My old Oregon is out there somewhere too

    Im not quite sold on the phone app only, not far off though but still chuck the 800 in the pack

    Na I'm not sold on phone yet.Like to leave it at home when I'm hunting.Get to many work and wife calls otherwise

    If you could come up with a gizmo that finds all these lost gps's you could be making a fortune!

    What sort of phone do you have? download the nztopo app and use that.

    I see the navionics hiking and biking trail app has just been updated with NZ maps, anyone used that yet?

    With the NZtopo can you download maps so you aren't always needing signal?

    Topo has maps so runs fine on flightmode. Havnt tried navi for backcountry but its dynamite for ocean navigation
