    Grass protection mesh

Hi, looking for a small piece of grass protection/reinforcement mesh, not a full 2m x huge-meter roll... I have a small area of sloping grass at the end of my driveway which appears to be a natural area for the ladies to drive up onto and then reverse into the basement from, with the appropriate full-noise/all-brakes ladies driving style which has unzipped the root structure of the grass in the braking zone and created a mud bowl.

Two 1mx5m or so offcuts would do this or thereabouts, does anyone on this forum work with this type of product and have a couple of bits laying around????

    Cheers

Ok, you supply me a source of free tyres (as it's my damn cars) and I'm up for the z nail idea.

Have actually looked at that, but the grass isn't flat in this area it's curved in two dimensions so the only real options are paving, laying concrete or mesh. As we aren't sure if we want to alter the gardens and extend into this area I'm not to keen on the fully permanent solutions. Stumbled onto the grass mesh (GrassProtecta or similar out of Aussie) with is laid over existing grass and becomes part of the root mass to stop the grass getting unzipped as the wheels slide on it. At the end of the requirement, pick it up, waterblast and reuse...

whip down to your local harbour and see the local trawler guys might be able to swop a deer for some old trawl net.anchor it down with bent over rebar with a bit of rope under the rebar incase you want to pull them out.be cheaper than that plastic grating stuff.

I'd be keen to watch the first trip over it with the lawn mower.

Rideon would love it, be like carrier landings hitting the arrestor cable... I've already just about thrown myself off the front of it, the little green brute has a buck like you wouldn't believe! Thought about the netting, have an old bit sitting here but it really needs to be buried in the dirt as it's not stiff enough to sit on top. It tends to roll away with the tyres so you end up needing something a bit more solid.

A comedian. Actually - apart from the mentioned tendencies to expect a car to stop in two feet on grass when you are doing 60Km/h, they are all fairly good drivers. It's just unfortunate that the piece of grass in question is as soft as it is as it is the natural place to reverse into the garage from as the only other turning place requires you to back up a slope and around into the basement at 90deg basically blind.

Fark, I'm only looking to move passenger cars on it not tanks, mining dumpers and HPMV's... The basic idea is perfect though, I just need the lighter more flexible version which doesn't seem to be that common in NZ at the mo. Had a source for offcuts about a year ago, they aren't in that bis any more bugger it!

If you get down to Wgtn PM me if you want some old playground matting - squares lock together about 500mm square or thereabouts

I just laid some down over sand and spiked them down with No 8 wire bent into staples

Can spare 2-3 sqm if you don't mind offcuts
