Thread: Howa Mini Bottom Plastic / Metal

Hey guys,

Anyone got a spare bottom plastic for the Howa Mini 6.5g?
I torqued mine to spec and put a box of Hornady Black through it, and the rear hole is now cracked

Will probabably get a DIP replacement for it, but need something to hold me over in the mean time.

Does anyone know anyone in NZ replicating these in Alloy? Or have a fix so the plastic doesnt do it again?

Make a steel or alloy sleeve that's the same thickness as the plastic same as you would do if pillar bedding and jb it in

I do believe there is an alloy hinged floor plate bottom metal available for them now. Not sure if they are in NZ yet, but theyre coming. Someone posted it here a few weeks back i think.

Looks really smart, now all we need is a nice slim light weight hunter style stock and the howa mini will be as the factory should have built it ;-)

@northdude this had occurred to me, I was thinking I might do this with the replacement if the jefferson floor plate takes to long!

I have one of his standard bottom metals. They are nicely made and shipped very quickly. You need to swap mag release over.
His flush floor plate mag looks good too. And he also hinted that this system was designed so a nicer detachable mag system is
possible but no time frame at this point. Flush floor plate system allows 2.45 inch COAL.

Will try my luck at getting a replacement under warranty.

Owners manual said 50-55 in-lbs, but looks like 50 in-lbs was too much! Will dial back Torque to 35 - 40 in-lbs on the replacement and see if it still retains accuracy and consistency.

Really like the look of the Jefferson Hinged Floor plate, wonder when they will be back in stock?

I got a jefferson too, really pleased with it. you can have my old one,which is brand new unused for $20 incl post, pm me.

May have a plastic bottom, will look tomorrow

Did you have any luck with this? Torqued mine to 45 in-lbs and felt it go alitle soft and yeap sure enough rear has cracked on the seam

@Mackattack, 35-40 worked well. No issues after that. Think I have a spare or 2 I can donate.

Ideal. Did they replace it under warranty?
