Have a brick left but sorry will not part with it.
It is very accurate in 2 of my 22s.
    Sorry to see it discontinued.

I last bought Whisper 22 ammo in 1990.

It blew up in two of my rifles, blew the extractor off the bolt of my Sako and sprayed my eye with shrapnel, could tell more if anybody interested.

    Never touched the stuff since.

I was under the impression that it is just Winchester ammo in a differant packet. Likely off-spec Winchester ammo at that.
Be more involved and less impressed.

Winchester Australia, they made this, Kilwell cobra and the orange packet power point. They have closed, so all Winchester we get now is US manufactured.

    Ah, not quite.

The blue box Kilwell in the first posting was made for Kilwell by Winchester Geelong and is 37.5 grain. It is headstamped (well mine is) Super X.

The comparable Winchester subs of that vintage were 40 grain and marketed by Winchester Oz so I assume they were also manufactured in Geelong. So not the same as Kilwell although also headstamped Super X.

There was/is the more expensive Winchester Sub Sonic Max at 42 grains. More expensive and didn't shoot as well as either the two above in my rifles.

I also have some loose Kilwell and don't recall their box details. They are headstamped H.

After the blue box for a short period of time Kilwell sold a 40 grain. By that stage I had grabbed any blue box stuff I could find.

I have fired thousands of the blue box rounds through several rifles including my old P54 and never experienced any issues.
Cyles thru my Marlin 795 nicely which is more than I can say for the Mex Fiocchi subs.

It’s great ammo indeed. I had a heavy barrel CZ452 that shot it extremely well. Tipped over a lot of small game with that combo, it was deadly out to approx 130yd. Still have a few packets despite not having a .22 that’s set up for subsonics these days, “just in case”

if I recall correctly, red box Whisper was the old Winchester Australia subsonic, with H headstamp and very small hollowpoint.
