When I got the forbes I just sold it was a touch (and I mean that in the most anal retentive way possible) rough all I did was clean the bolt, action and locking lugs on the receiver and it was mint as.

New one is border line tikka smooth (it just arrived today) @Rangidan we are .260 twins

Mine is mint .less slop than the sakos I have owned . Had a few feeding problems so have to load mag with shells sitting hard back seems to sort it , early load work looks really good , has a short tight chamber.

Have heard a few of the forbes like having the rounds sitting hard back in the mag to get feeding properly...

Yep, they have a 3" mag and as you say the throat is shorter than one might be used to (ie Tikka) I've got the Hornady OAL gauge and tools and have set mine up already. Once I have had a play I might take a gunsmith, will only take a short while to open the throat up.

Not a bad idea but I'd rather have an excuse for another rifle
