did you end up doing any leatherwork @diana2 ?
born to hunt - forced to work
Yes, I did make some plain knife sheaths, but was running out on leather and one or the other knife just have to wait to get a new sheath.
Here is the latest knife I finished, 1075 carbon steel, brass pins, G10 liner and stabilized olive wood handle.

Very nice. I especially like that wood.. gorgeous.
Something I would love to have a go at myself , making a knife , but don't have the gear for it. Rehandled a few though using rimu and antler
born to hunt - forced to work
Not much gear needed, I use a couple of old washing machine motors with sanding paper glued on wooden disks for most of the grinding, a drill to drill holes for the pins, a wood saw to cut the handles, a small homemade forge for heat treatment and a toaster oven for tempering the steel.
Mind you I bought a 1x30 belt sander/grinder which makes the grinding and forming of the blade a lot easier.

nice bit of kiwi ingenuity there . The grinding etc I could probably come up with something at home or work but it's the heat treatment side of it that I have no gear for .
And I doubt the finished object would be any where near as nice as yours![]()
