Lee Enfield No4 near to Wellington

Hi, looking for a Lee Enfield No4 non-sporterised, non-SMLE rifle in Wellington/Wairarapa/lower Manawatu that I can pick up. As close to original as possible, offering $400-500 depending on condition, matching bolt-receiver etc.

I do watch TM of course, and there are LEs regularly, but while the couriers are being funny, I'll want to pick up.

    Thanks

Here's another thing you may end up having to do if couriers continue to be "funny":

Hi Dain, the $400-$500 price range for a non sporterised .303 will get you a rooted piece of junk.
You may have to double the price you are prepared if you want something decent.

^Yea there's is a Savage, it's pretty tidy but the bolt and reciever numbers do not much. Not a biggie if ya not worried about it.

That's a shame as they certainly aren't worth much more than 400-500

@Dain, if you find one down Nelson way I am popping up to Wellington on Wednesday May 8 and have room in a gun case for it if you want free courier.
I think the local shop may have one to, but once again well over your expected price.

$300-400 will get you a sporterised one these days, plus another $200-300 for the forewood and required metal parts that are missing. Hence $800 for an already complete one is about the right price. The days of complete $500 rifles are few and far between now and don’t forget a brand new barrel plus fitting is about $750 if you do get a stuffed one for $500.

FTR rifles commonly have non matching numbers, still perfectly ok to shoot though.
I think the ftr mark adds another bit of depth to a rifles story.

Yea i have had good results from my FTR rifles, better than the likes of a mint factory PH/savage sporting conversion or H rebarreled SMLE.
All the work done for you already by an military armourer.
You see them on TM now and then.

Some on TM at the moment; what do you want to pay?

Thanks; shame the website's still down. I'll have a look in store.
