    Lever action for bush hunting

I'm shopping for a lever action. My last was 3030 brand new and crap. So now I'd prefer a pre-loved rifle in good nick that I can use the rest of my life that will reliably hit and kill a fallow at sub 100 yard ranges. Something like a 1960s Marlin would be ideal. But I'm open to whatever comes my way.

Marlin 336 bought a couple of years ago new. I could reliably put my shots inside a one metre circle at 100 yards, and no better. Indeed as it warmed up it got worse I think. I thought it was me until the best marksman I know got the same result. So now a farmer uses it to pop cattle beasts at one metre range.

I know levers aren't high accuracy but just the same....

Mate you should get the same accuracy with a lever gun as a bolt gun or semi. They can be very accurate.

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

Yeah I think you were just unlucky mate, I had a 336 marlin in 30/30 and it wasn't a tack driver but a great hunting rifle that was more than accurate enough. I didn't like the caliber much though but that's just me.

Me and Marlin are relieved. I figured it was a dud one-off and not a tradition. It was a Rem-Marlin I think.
