    LITHGOW 1941 SMLE

    Good general order,matching numbers.
Bore has some wear but I imagine atill has plenty of life in it.
Prefer pickup however can possibly deliver between Wanganui and Rotorua if you are in no hurry.
Buyer must provide necessary paperwork for postal delivery to nearest gunshop and if picking up must provide firearms licence.

A bit unusual to see a NZ marked Lithgow.

When my father embarked for the Pacific in 1942, after having trained with P14's and old SMLE's, they were issued with brand new Lithgow SMLE Mk III* rifles at Papakura before going to the ship.

    That's interesting.
It would make sense we would have used Lithgows due to our proximity to Aussie, but you don't see many NZ marked ones all the same.
I rather suspect they used them just never marked the majority.
I do know we used a lot of the later WW1 British SMLE's during WW2,the no 4's supposedly never left our shores.

If only my eyes could see a thousand yards in fading light now, but I still like the smell of cordite in the morning. and yes its a smile and a bump.
