    Looking for 6.5 creed, 260 or 6.5x284

    Hi everyone,

As in the heading I am looking for a 6.5 caliber. Prs type shooting is going to be my primary purpose but am going to do the occasional hunt.

Have been looking on trademe, but thought I'd put it out there to see if someone has any good buys they know about.

    Cheers

you would do worse than the bergara HMR in 6.5 creed
good stock and weight for prs without being a full on target rifle
6.5x284 is a great cartridge, but not a lot of factory offerings to choose from. if you really need a "magnum" 6.5 then the 6.5PRC is just hitting the market and there seems to be quite a good responce from manufacturers for rifles being offered in the cal.
of course if you wanted something "custom" then you can have whatever you want!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the info on the calibers but I'm actually looking for a good buy if someone knows if one.

Have had a look into a prc, but will wait till lapua or norma brings out cases and when parts are more readily available. Plan is to shoot the 6.5creed and then when I re-barrel Ill let the gunsmith open the bolt face for magnum en do a 6.5prc.

Good choice, but can't see in the future anything in the "industry" being readily available.

I have looked at the bergara, but like the howa HCR or Bravo more tthan the HMR or BMP. They make good rifles no doubt, but howas have more aftermarket parts and options as well as longer barrel options

The bergara is a way nicer gun than the howa. As for after market bits the bergara is a rem 700 clone so go fast bits are 10 a penny.

If the HMR was in a 24 or 26 inch barrel, I would be so in! The Howa is a good option, but as @Cartman mentioned, the Bergara is is a Remington 700 (just done right).

If you are a sucker for a model 700 like I am, the Remington PCR in a chassis in 6.5CM or 260 Rem for $2K is not a bad option and is 24 inch.

Yeah, my 300wsm build is based on a Rem700 action, so i do love the Rem700's but I know Remington has had some quality issues, and I really wanted to like the PCR (5R barrel, adjustable trigger, nice chassis, etc) but from what I've seen it's not as accurate as expected from the specs (just from what I've read). Some quoted, something like the "accuracy was acceptable", and that's not acceptable for me. I like to know that when I miss that it's my fault. My 2c. I've seen guys shooting 6.5 Howa's (standard) with exceptional accuracy. obviously love a tikka as well, but want a accurate budget rifle.

That's ridiculous. You might have just helped with making my final decision. What is your setup?
