Looking to import RL26, ELD-Ms & other unobtainables.

As this lack of reloading components situation seems to be not fixing itself, I've looking into importing stuff myself.

Looks entirely legal and possible but shipping is stupid expensive (like $1500) so need to order a lot to make it worth while.
I need 6.5mm projectiles, Lapua brass and RL26 for myself but if enough people are keen on similar items then this could be possible.
Looking like Lapua, Hornady, Berger and Alliant powder are all available to one degree or another.

I'm not doing this to make money just get some damn brass and projectiles!

If anyone else is keen could you please type a reply with what you want and what quantity, eg.
    147s ELDMs x200
    RL26 4lbs
    Lapau 6.5CM brass x200.

I'm predicting the pricing will be much the same as NZ store pricing, maybe 10% higher.
But I'm expecting a box of 6.5mm projectiles to be $100 and similar for a pound of RL26.
Lapua brass looks about the same price $200-$240 per 100 depending on cartridge.

If you know where to look and where to buy you can get projectiles in small lots landed in NZ cheaper than retail here.

I've been purchasing about 3500 projectiles or per year direct from the US. Shipped in 20 lb boxes.
I've just imported 1800 projectiles (18 boxes) in the last 2 months while the NZ/US exchange rate has been favourable.

I don't do it to undercut NZ retailers, I do it to ensure that I have enough projectiles for each season of target shooting.

Cases should be similarly easy to import.

There might be a few regulations and rules around importing powders. Good luck.

If you manage to import a decent quantity of rl26 or 147s I dont think you will have any problems selling them.
Im not in a position to commit to anything atm but I hope you go ahead.

This is the outfit I used for quite a few shipments https://reloadinginternational.com/
With the lifting of the gst threshold the situation is now more favorable plus reasonable good x change rate right now.
The big issue right now is there is no stock in NZ but not much better if at all in the States.

    300 x 147 ELDM's and 300 x 143 ELDX's please. Its a bugger when 2 different rifles shoot different projectiles.

I would commit to RL26 2lb and Superformance 2lb now to help you get it over the line.

And some Barnes projectiles if you can make this happen.

Projectiles/brass not a problem but have you done much research into shipping powder?

Powder is a dangerous good and has to be specifically loaded in container in certain part of ship taking into account other DGs aboard vessel and how can easily be contained in case of accident etc. This has what has often held up current shipments last few years as shippers have become more pedantic around DG's.

Large rifle primers look to be more serious problem currently as you can mix match projectiles powder but primers not so easily.
Fed small pistol primers have been in short supply for last couple of years.

My personal opinion is we have actually been quite well looked after in New Zealand considering shortages and pricing in the States.

My powder supplier gave me a heads up about primers a while back. I think we are now beginning to see a shortage which can only get worse.
I have progressively stocked up over the last year at any rate.

Wanted to grab some more RWS LR though only to find they are now double the price I paid last time. Flagged away.

As far a powder goes, forget it. If the big guys cannot get a ship agreeable to carry what chance a small player with a small shipment? It will languish in some secure storage dockside. Or, in the case of the big Vihtavuori shipment a few years back, reach Sydney and then loop back to Europe.
