    Looking for a Land Rover

    Hi team,

long story short many years ago I was informed that I was getting rid of my old truck, she was a faithful old girl, but had issues....like starting reliably!!! Now that I have signed some papers I would like to celebrate by getting me an old land rover, doesn't have to be flash as, I plan to get back outdoors and hunting again and just want a simple old truck like an old land rover. I am currently in the Solomons with work and wont be home till Nov so if anyone has something they are interested in parting with in the next weee while please keep me in mind.

    Cheers

Tertle I am speaking with the experience of owning a landrover.
You would be way better of with a trekka than a landrover!
On a seious note pick up an old 3y petrol hilux for bugger all and you will be eternally pleased you didnt go the landy way.
By the way ive had both!
By the way those old hiluxs have an awesome heater
And can get along at a over the speed limit and you dont have to tow a petrol tanker when you go down to the local shop.
All the best with what ever you do

I don't care about your Land Rover issues (sorry) but Im really keen to see some photos of Guadalcanal!!!

I would honestly give my left one to dive there, sans wife and kids. I saw some doco that was about all the bunker fuel still underwater in the WW2 boats and how it was starting to leak out now.

    Sorry for the hijack too.

FYI some of the older Landies got the 185 and 202 Holden motors transplanted. pretty easy swap out I understand.

You meant To type Land Cruiser eh ??

Please say yes !!! I have memories of Land Rovers and Holden repowers and broken axles and blown gearboxes and electrical fires and mainly getting towed home frequently. .... Not to mention brake failures etc etc Today you d get free counselling for what we used to do with those stunning efforts of Pongolian design !!

My freelander was a great wagon! It didn't like me though would lock me out regularly I used to carry the get in code all the time! My next adventure was a discovery, why the fuck did they waste all that effort on building a shitter like that!
I have calves a cow with a series 1 land rover so that do have a purpose in life! But it's limited

I had a land rover. Biggest piece of poo I ever owned. I will never own another. But in saying that I did enjoy the fun, and adventures I had during the time I had the rover.

I used to use a landy as a work vehicle in the UK, hated the thing as I'm over 5'6". Very clunky and just, well, very average and that's being generous.

If they were cheap then it'd be great.

Im driving what the Australians call the "Troopy's" big Toyota land cruisers, long wheeled beasts decked out with the seats in the back facing each other, and I am having a ball, I would love one of them but at that cost!!!! I would look at an older land cruiser, I remember my father having one on duel fuel and that thing went everywhere. I guess I like the simplistic no frill approach, less to go wrong etc but I am getting the feeling and advice that I should look elsewhere!

owww and Kiwijames, off the topic, Yep Guadalcanal is an interesting environment, I wont tell you of the Japanese subs, transport ships and other things ive dived.....

    Yup, loving mine.

Apart from last night's puncture going to get new shoes sooner than expected, so goodbye to $1500 odd.
