There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

If you are spotlighting wallabies around Rotorua then a 22LR will be fine - they are not that big. Suppressed 22LR with subsonic hunting ammunition is all we have been using.

If I was going to dedicate a gun to the task it'd be norinco jw-103 7.62x39. Cheap to buy/run, heavy enough to stay straight in the scrub and big enough for deer/pig should opportunity arise.

BF I think that 12 gauge is the way to go, with buck shot you'd only have the tattered remains of a Skelton, mind you I want to see the affect of that 500 grain .45 slug from the 45/70, should remove the head ok. Definitely need to find one or two!
    Boom, cough,cough,cough

She'll be the tool for the job alright haha I wouldnt recommend a newby to the scene to drag something like that through the scrub though

Yes that cannon is certainly something I want to see in action, my mental picture consists of a cloud of smoke rising out of blood/fluff splattered pungas

You don't need anything that big to decapitate a wallaby, I've done it with the 308!

The remaining neck-stump was a tad messy mind you...

223 and up is fine as long as it is accurate, went shooting with a ex wallaby board member in Waimate area once and he was using a 22mag cut down to fit by the gear lever in a hilux and he had great success, he took all the closer shots up to 100m. Know your rifle i guess!
That trip was spotlighting on private property and they hold well in a light until the first shot.
