    Lowa boots

Lowa Ranger GTX 3 wide fit. Size us 11/uk 10

Have done 4 - 5 trips in these. A great all round boot but unfortunately there half a size to small. I've been wearing thin office socks but need a thicker sock moving into winter.

Some slight tearing of rubber rand toe (worst toe shown in pics)

Suit new boot buyer without the wallet reaming.

    Asking 300 ono

    Elaborate !!
    Pictures tell a 1000 words
What price were these new ?? $500+ no doubt
Take them back and throw them at the counter

$$ spent do not = quality when buying boots that is for sure
Marketing hype and BS does determine $$ spent but

Im not sure if your comments are intended to help or not?

Anway, nz retail is around 650 so id consider less than half the retail price is a fair starting point.

I would take them back - when did you buy
They will have a warranty and they are faulted

    $650 :-(

I see. The rubber splitting on the rand hasent worried me and in no way effects the performance or longevity of the boot nor it it likely to in the future. It is more than likely the result of the country they have been used in as my Hiax K2 have the same splits around the toe although the rand is alot thicker than the lowas.

I've never seen a rand perish like that...unless they've been left in the sun, UV damage maybe? (Not wanting to piss on your chips...just curious as to what's happened there, or maybe it's a warranty issue)

Thats bad if you done 4-5 trips and thats it? That rand to perish like that in 4-5 trips i be taking them back for a replacement. Lowa boots are great but thats either a old pair or faulty. They wont last anyone very long if thats how they gone in 5 trips...crap. Either that or they have been wet and left in a car in 50 degree heat and cooked

My Lowas did the same thing but it was the heel that split like stacked pancakes. Took them back to vendor even though well out of warranty, to have it explained that it happens to Lowas when used insufficiently. My wife checked hers to find the heels had “gone flat”
in that they were easily compressed totally using thumb and forefinger. Both pairs of boots were well cared for; dried carefully without heat, waxed etc etc. I changed to healer KEEN brand, while she went with Lowas again.

Its a rubber rand so it should take ages to split in the sun, otherwise our car tires would perish and split after 5 trips to the supermarket.
looks like they have been cleaned with an aggressive solvent.
The dog on the couch appears un-kicked so not that
Perish my Rand that it never happens to my Lowas
Re Ingrid 51 : The soles on most boots are made from flexible PU ( poly-urethane) and are reasonably chemical resistant. Not sure if the high grade Vibram soles on the Lowa's are rubber or PU. When PU soles collapse it is because the melt temp for the plastic granules was not high enough and the granules were not fully melted and bonded. Refund Time.

Seems to be some concern about a few cracks on the rubber toe rand. If someone is genuinely interested then I'll standby them and refund if your not happy.

Otherwise, Im happy to buy some new ones and keep these for a summer pair.

Thanks for all the helpful comments

What can do this to the Rand (in defence to Lowa) is drying them in front of fire to quickly at camp
As in leaving them beside the coals and heading to the sleeping bag and another camper adds fuel to fire and not shift your boots
That will split the Rand open like a ripe Grape/Tomato

But - my main point here is - the $$ you jokers (no pun intended) are spending on these hyped up marketed products is F~~cking madness - Period!!!

I just bought Arcteryx Jacket - same place I get boots from
Used - cost me $115NZ - as new condition
Cost here New in shops - $880NZ
FFS - its 99.9% fabric - not bloody Gold

Put them on Trade Me at $1 reserve and let the public punters set their price - otherwise if they are within Warranty timeframe and not your fault as to why they look as is - take back to supplier
Do not sell on here as nothing wrong when quiteclearly there is !!
Sorry to be harsh - but $300 is a lot of coin for something that clearly is not up to parr
