    Maxtoch Red torch wanted.

Hi all. I'm looking for a light to work with my thermal XM 30. Was told the red lense maxtoch 2 is what I need ? Any advice or torches out there ? Cheers

Gidday. I have one you can try if you like to see if it is what you want.

I hadn’t really thought about selling it, but if it works out for you I probably would. My son has used it to shoot possums with his bow, but has a red dot sight on his bow and struggles to see the dot in the red torch light so have been thinking about changing to a white light Maxtoch.

My advice would be to get the regular Maxtorch and get a red filter from, a camera shop (or aliexpress) have to be careful of the heat output on the lens and the tape holding it on. Have used this for kiwi spotting and can then use it for spotlighting without the need for a second torch

Cheers for that. I have a white light, been looking for a red filter ,but unsure if that would work, or need the red LEDS

Just be aware that you are going to lose a lot of output if you use a filter. It's not the same as having a red LED. For your purposes, it might be fine though. I have a red LED Maxtoch 2X which I ordered directly from the People's Republic and it's awesome!

Yeah you do lose a bit of output, would still be fine for possums out to 50m

Not sure that you can just put a red led into it.

I enquired about putting a white one in mine and was told that the internals were different and it couldn’t be done.

Had two Maxtoch 2x (white and red). Didn't like the red (personal preference). Gadgetman changed it to white, I then on-sold it to @deepsouthaussie.
