I want to know if there is a decent headlight out there that is a thrower? I'm using one with a separate battery pack (its 4x 18650s in one) which lasts all night but its useless at throwing long distance.

Gadget and I gave them the full design specs for an LR (long range) headlamp last year. Planned output is 500m range. We don't need more in a lamp as the present M24 and 2X are both 1100-1200m max. Still on drawing board. We'll see...

I have a dedomed M24 mounted on the .22 and wanted a hand held light with a wider beam for scanning the paddocks for bunnies. Would this wide beam x2 be a good light to use along side the M24 or is there something else I should look for? Thanks

GMH72 - your dedomed M24 is perfect for scanning paddocks for bunnies. That's exactly what we designed it for. We've used them for years now and they are 100% with their combination of beam width plus long range hotspot.

This new 2X variant with the XHP70 led is a concept Gadget and I reviewed and rejected for hunting a year or so ago. Maxtoch have made a few to test the market. They have good flood at shorter range but just 570 meters maximum which is 80,000 lux - not a thrower by today's standards. It is nothing like the distance of your M24 (if its the new upgrade model with its 1100m maxrange and 305,000 lux).

This flood model 2X will let you down when sweeping bigger paddocks, or seeking target greater clarity at longer distances. By all means try one for fun but I would advise another M24 or the XML2-U4 led 2X. Gadget and I designed these lights as hunters - the xhp70 2X not so much. Its more of a shorter range flood S&R light.

Thanks for that mudgripz appreciate the response. I can't really afford to try one so might stick to another m24 or the 2x as suggested. I just want something to swing around that's not attached to the rifle. Cheers

I used the flood Maxtoch out on a block targeting rabbits the other night and it was awesome, I agree with Mudgripz the spot is a lot brighter and is a fantastic torch for spotting deer, rabbits etc a long way out but the flood rated out to 570 meters will not let you down, as "most" spotlighting bunnies is done between 0-150 meters. I found it brilliant. 570 meters is not short range So as you asked if you are after more of a flood light than a spot this light is one of the best you can buy for the $$
    Just use both!!

Im going to test it out tonight, thought it would be good on the boat when coming in at night aswell. I took the narrow beam one up for a night in the bush with @Bigash and now he is getting one. Flipping bright as. Cant wait to get a head torch from them.
